Ottumwa's St. Joe Hospital -- January Reminisce Society
For our January program the OPL’s Reminisce Society is pleased to hear from local author and historian, Leigh Michaels, on Tuesday, January 26, at 10:00 a.m. in the library’s meeting room.
Changes are coming to the old St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ottumwa. There is so much history to the building and many local residents have memories and stories to tell about the former hospital. Michaels will share a slideshow, including Michael Lemberger’s photography, with the Reminisce Society that shows the former hospital’s earliest history until now.
Leigh Michaels is the author of more than 80 novels and nonfiction books. Michael W. Lemberger is an award-winning photographer, artist, and author who has collected historic photographs for more than 50 years. They have drawn on several private postcard collections to select vintage images that illustrate the varied history of their hometown.
Plan to join us on Tuesday, January 26, for a look back into Iowa’s past. Reminisce Society programs are free and open to everyone. For further information, please call the library’s director, Sonja Ferrell at 641-682-7563.
