Ottumwa Public Library’s
Reminisce Society presents…
For our April program the OPL’s Reminisce Society is pleased to have Iowa author, Linda McC ann, present a program about her book, “Prohibition in Eastern Iowa,” on Tuesday, April 28, at 10:00 a.m. in the library’s meeting room.
The new book from the author of the "Lost Towns" series, looks at the 13 year span of time known as "Prohibition" through the lens of Eastern Iowa townspeople and others.
From farmers who grew corn used in making illegal liquor, to the bootleggers who trafficked it and the gangsters who sold it, Eastern Iowa saw its fair share!
Many are surprised to learn how this period in our national history transpired in, and impacted, Iowa.
Plan to join us on Tuesday, April 28, for a fascinating glimpse into Iowa’s culture. Reminisce Society programs are free and open to everyone. If you are a person with a disability who requires special assistance or for further information, please call the library’s director, Sonja Ferrell at 641-682-7563, extension 202.
