Activities for Families All Day & Kick off of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program
Ottumwa
Public Library is happy to announce a special day of activities on
Saturday, February 4th. It is National Take Your Child to
the Library Day and there will be family fun all day for all ages.
In
addition to introducing your child to the library (or revisiting us
if you are a regular!) there will be different events to participate
in. From 9:30 am- 12 pm there will be Coffee & Conversation
Playgroup which will include toys and games for kids age 5 and
younger to play with while parents can relax with a cup of coffee.
Then
from 2:30 pm-3:30 pm we will have a Saturday Lego Club. This is a
fun time aimed for kids in Grades 2-5 where they will make a Lego
creation based on the theme of the day.
There
will also be crafts set up all day for children to make while they
spend some time at the library.
Finally,
Take Your Child to the Library Day will kick off another program at
the Ottumwa Public Library. We are excited to announce our
participation in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. This is
a free program which encourages children to read 1000 books before
they start kindergarten. There are so many reasons to read with your
child every day, including early literacy, bonding, and future
successes in school. Here at the Ottumwa Public Library your child
will be given a sheet to record each book (you can repeat!) to turn
in for prizes along the way to the 1000 books!
Stopping
by the library with your child is a good idea any time, but we would
especially love to see you on this special day!
All
are welcome!
