Dear Library Patrons:
The Ottumwa Public Library will temporarily close to the public as of
Tuesday, March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus. We will be in constant reassessment about
when we will reopen. This difficult decision is based on communications and
guidance provided from local, state, and federal levels of government.
We are constantly getting updated information and at this time we feel the
safest decision for our staff and patrons is to close and therefore limit our
interactions and prevent further spread of the virus.
- All library-sponsored programs, events, and classes are now postponed through April 13. (This includes all book clubs in and out of the library.)
- All outreach is cancelled.
- No materials will be due before April 13, though patrons can still return to our alley drop box at any time.
- All online services will be available to all library card holders.
We have a number of digital services available. You can enjoy downloading
magazines, e-books, audio books, music or children’s Tumble Books from our
website with your library card. These
are all free services and are available 24/7.
For authoritative and current information about COVID-19, we encourage you
to contact the Wapello
County Public Health website, the Iowa
Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention.
For any questions on accounts or the status of the library, please contact
me at sferrell@ottumwapubliclibrary. org
We will continue to keep you updated through our website and Facebook page.
Thank you,
Sonja Ferrell
